Handy Domain Registration Tips

• Domain names can only contain letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (-)
• johnsmith.com & johnsmithsmallgoods.com are more likely to be remembered and less likely to be mispelled compared with johnsmithsmallgoodwholesalersandmanufacturers.com
• Domains should be relevant to your business
• Ensure your domain does not spell something unintended ie:
  www.TherapistFinder.com vs www.TheRapistFinder.com
  www.TeachersTalking.org vs www.TeacherStalking.com
  www.ChildrensWear.co.uk vs www.ChildrenSwear.co.uk
• Domain names are not case-sensitive ie:
  www.MyWebsite.com is the same as www.mywebsite.com
• Start-ups: Check domain availability before registering your business name
• Once a business name has been registered, secure your domain name as soon as possible
• Even if you’re not ready to build a website, it is advisable to register your domain to prevent someone else registering it
• .au domain names such as .com.au, .net.au require an ABN (Australian Business Number) to be registered. This prevents offshore parties buying up Australian domains
• You can purchase multiple domain names and point them all to the same website/web host
